A Market Participant (MP) is a legal entity certified by MISO to submit bids to purchase energy, submit offers to supply energy and operating reserve, hold financial transmission or auction revenue rights and other market-related activities.
A MISO Member pays a fee to fully participate in the stakeholder committee process allowing them to provide advice and input to MISO on strategic and operational business decisions. Additionally, Members also participate in the election of MISO’s Board of Directors.
An entity may be an MP, Member or both. Watch “Who is a Stakeholder” for a quick tutorial and additional context distinguishing the differences between these two roles.
